Amato, Catanzaro

Amato is a small village in the hills located above the plain of Lamezia. Ideally located near the airport of Lamezia and the motorway, this is a small sleepy village of approximately 1000 inhabitants, but has easy access to Catanzaro and the beautiful Tyrrhenian Coastal towns of Tropea, Pizzo and Capo Vaticano.

Not far from Amato are the villages of Tiriolo (traditional weaving of shawls & quality of its poultry) and Serrestrette (famous for the handicrafts of chairmaking). Tiriolo has many relics from the neolithic and Iron ages found in numerous grottoes.

Within easy reach also of Catanzaro's coastal towns Soverato, Catanzaro Lido, Copanello and Pietragrande.

Due to its close vicinity with major communication routes such as airport, major train station and motorway, Amato is a perfect base to visit the Calabria region.
