About 6 Kms, South of catanzaro Lido, on a hill in part bounded by a ravine there is the village of Squillace Superiore.
The restored Norman Castle and the Cathedral, the origins of which seem go back to the early Christian era, is very interesting to visit. The facade, infact, is in carved stone of Roman inspiration. Inside one can find a fine baptismal font of the XVI centuri and the monumental sepulchre of the Bishop capace galeota.
Also to be visited is the Palazzo Pepe, nowtha town hall, where some Roman gravestones are preserved. Here the craftsmanship of ceramics and terracotta is flourishing. Celebrated with the deliciuos local cousine is also the white wine of Squillace, a sweet tasting, straw coloured table wine.
